Batman v. Superman Spoiler Free Review

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a gritty, unapologetic look into the heart the two most iconic Super Heroes that have ever existed. No pats on the shoulder. No quips from the peanut gallery. Steel on the steel. Man vs God. Death, is the consequence. For this film, death is no longer a passerby while the heroes high five and eat shawarma.

The fights are often and rough. This Batman is a mix of Frank Millers and Bruce Timm’s Dark Knights that are strong brooding characters that are not boy scouts, they are trained killers. I wasn’t surprise that the critical reaction has been so harsh. This isn’t a film for faint of heart. This is a Super Hero movie that does not follow the path set forth by Marvel. Zach Synder is a polarizing figure who loves comics and makes comic book movies for those fans. He does it with heart and passion. He goes dark. Really, really Dark. This is by far the darkest Superman and Batman we will probably ever get.

It was a pleasure to see fans at my screening, cheering for the Dark Knight, crying (yes I said crying) for the struggle that occurs, and being truly amazed by a Wonder Woman who delivers as a power female Hero that deserved a portrayal like this.

I give Batman v Superman a 4 out of 5. It’s a perfect portrayal of a comic book film. It is an unapologetic look at two very troubled Super Heroes and a movie that is well worth the price of admission.
